Carlsberg Unveils ‘World’s First’ Paper Beer Bottle

The bottle forms part of Carlsberg’s Together Towards Zero initiative, which includes a commitment to reach zero carbon emissions and a 30% reduction in its full-value-chain carbon footprint by 2030.
The brewer has revealed two prototypes for its green fibre bottle. Both are made from sustainably sourced wood fibres and have an inner barrier allowing the bottle to hold beer. One uses a thin recycled PET polymer film barrier, while the other has a bio-based PEF polymer film barrier…more

Burger King Is Melting Down Plastic Toys To Recycle Them Into Something Actually Useful

There’s been a lot of talk about plastic straws, but that’s not the only plastic waste spewing out of fast-feeders, and now Burger King has decided to remove all plastic toys from its kids’ meals. Not only that but the initiative, created by agency Jones Knowles Ritchie and starting this week in the U.K., is also calling for people to drop plastic toys from meals past in “plastic toy amnesty bins” at Burger King locations to be melted down and recycled into things that are actually useful, like play areas and surface tools, which can be recycled many times over….more

The new KFC drive through only store will see customers offered two methods of ordering. Fans can either order via the franchise’s app or at one of five new high-tech kiosks, before driving through.
By reducing time spent at the ordering booth, Woolrych said the KFC drive-through only store will provide customers with a seamless experience.
Drive-through only customers will enter a unique four-digit code generated by the smartphone app on a touchscreen receiver, which will send their order to the kitchen where it is freshly prepared, ready for collection…more
